Someone gets kicked in the balls. Somebody gets punched in the tit. Swashbucklers swordfight so hard their trousers fall down. Violence is funny! It exists unquestioned throughout all our media, from superheroes, to the news, to our Instagram stories. Innovative stage combat theatre company Parrot Punch asks us to recognize the stories of violence we get told. What does it mean when they are told for our entertainment? What does it mean when the violence we see in the real world doesn’t resemble those stories at all? The show is still a comedy, don’t worry.
